About

Why hospital corners?  Well, why not!  You’d be forgiven for thinking that hospital corners were a thing of the past since the invention of the fitted sheet but I have it on the best authority that, as student nurses in 2006, we really need to know how to make a bed using the very precise method of folding sheets in a triangular like fashion before tucking them under the mattress … seriously it’s a skill and it took an hour to learn it!  So, since I’m great at folding and have shown a particular aptitude and flair for this I’m sure I’ll soon be making a bed in less than 30 minutes and doing it all by myself, so there.

Hospital Corners … perfect!

  1. It’s the classic old saw about learning the basics before you can be trusted with the big stuff. It could also be a working meditation. It could be a way to make your patient feel well looked after, if you take that much care with making the bed, how fabulous and detailed you are likely to be looking after their needs? Just don’t be so good that everyone looks to you to do their “hospital corners”! They don’t still make you bounce a coin on the bed, do they?
